Motion Tracking causes freezing

Anthony-Burbury wrote on 9/29/2024, 4:05 AM

I recently moved from Vegas 19 to 22, and every time I try to use motion tracking it freezes.

Doesn't matter if I change videos, formats, or any of the settings in the motion tracking window. At best I was able to make it track for 1 frame before crashing by switching to an older version of 22.

Is this really the case? Motion tracking just doesn't work with 22, when the same clips motion track just fine in 19? I read on the forums that this is a known issue, is there any kind of fix in the meantime?

@Anthony-Burbury I think you're referring to the issue where Vegas freezes after the motion tracking tool returns a Low Track Count when the mode is Perspective. This is a known issue and will be fixed. In the meantime, try to avoid a low track count, which usually happens when there's no movement in the tracked object. It can also happen if the tracked object moves violently at the start of tracking, due to missing frames. Another way, I've found is not to use Perspective mode. Unless you absolutely need perspective tracking, use Location.

Well if the reported bug is to do with choosing perspective mode it's different to mine, as my freeze occurs with all modes.

After some further testing I figured out the freeze is caused whenever I adjust the motion tracking rectangle. As long as I leave the rectangle as default, motion tracking works (at least by Vegas standards).

I've already reported this to customer support, but hope this is fixed soon.

Wow Jack, you probably know as much about this feature as anyone on the forum. Eagerly awaiting your motion tracking tutorial!
