Hey folks,
Please excuse the marketing nature of this post, I just wanted to share some nice news about a 3rd party solution to add professional vfx quality motion tracking for Sony Vegas Pro.

Imagineer Systems & Boris FX partnered to create "Motion tracking for Editors".

Here is the web page for more info:

And video tutorial:

Hello rshain,

Does this then use the borris tools in vegas to access mocha? or a separate product in which mocha has been ported to work in Sony Vegas Pro?

Thanks

I don't get it. If I have BCC7, what does Mocha bring to the party?

mocha is a nice planar tracker.

Ok just let us know which 2 outdated graphics cards this will work with.

Hi Steve,
If you already have BCC, than you only need to purchase mocha AE to support the BCC format.

Simply, mocha can track things that other motion tracking systems can't because it employs a unique "planar tracking" system. If you have ever struggled with motion tracking, it is worthwhile to check out some of the videos here:

mocha is a stand alone tracking system that is used in conjunction with many systems including After Effects, Final Cut, Flame, Smoke, Nuke and more.

The Motion tracking for Editors bundle contains mocha AE and BCC which allows Vegas users to import the track data to their Vegas timeline.

What is "Planar Tracking"?

What is Planar Tracking?

Mike gave you the definitive link which explains it but in layman's terms, it tracks the plane on which the object resides and analyses the "shape" of the object that it's tracking and can follow it's perspective when it turns.

Regular point trackers loose their way once they can't figure out what the point is anymore (or if the point leaves the frame). Planar trackers look at the entire shape and keep their track even if parts of the shape leave the frame.

I have Mocha and it is outstanding for tough tracking projects. I did a planar track for someone here who needed to a monitor screen insert into a scene after the fact (i.e., the screen was turned off during the shoot when it should have been turned on) and Mocha was the only tracker that followed the camera moves correctly.

What is new is that you can now use Mocha to create the tracking data and then import it into BCC plug-ins that support tracking like BCC Match Move, or the Motion Tracker. I'm considering upgrading my copy of Mocha to get this new feature (I have v2.0 but not v2.5).

Hi,

I have question to John Rofrano : I have BCC7 and can import tracker data.

Have seen Mocha + BCC7 package but it consist BCC7 plugins which I have already bought. I would like to buy only Mocha AE stand alone, price is lower. But I had seen tutorial from Mocha AE export and have noticed, that there is no BORIS format on export list. Is it true ?

Do I really have to buy BCC7 tracker once again ?

Best regards,
