Motion tracking help please=)

Hi there everybuddy=)

I have some questions about motion tracking... It would be grand of you to shed some light onto it=)

Here is a quick clip of what I mean:

(its not pretty , but it's not meant to be;) )

(link in post below)

This might confuse you , because it is confusing me to explain it..lol.. but try to hang in there if you would be so kind:P

You see, auto-tracking does somewhat make all the keyframes it should, but, only from the start of the clip - not if I place the first keyframe sometime in the timeline - also when I copy the original clip - with zoom keyframes from the original, and I cut or edit the length of the copy, the zoom keyframes dont stick to the arranger timeline but adjust to the new clip timeline...

Ok, there are other weird things , but I am somewhat confused by my own words..lol

What I want to do is simple. Maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong..

1. Zoom in to plane (well, the tip of the white trail is all you can see - the tip of the trail should be tracked)

2. Motion track plane while zoomed in

3. Zoom out after the sequence is done

(the zooming was done in the original clip and then the clip was copied to the top layer for the masking and tracking - I re-sized the length of the copied clip too - which messed up my zoom keyframes somehow)

I advice you to watch this Vegas Tutorial a few times very carefully for only make Bezier tracking.
What you planned to use somewhere that motion tracking is another step than the tracking tool itself.

I did a tracking experiment just now. I created two solid color planes of the same color. moved one to the right so it covered half the frame, and shrunk the other one down by zooming out in pan crap. I then animated it to move to the right and go out of the frame.

I tried to track the small looking plane to see if it could be tracked and if it could be tracked while blended into other plane. I was not able to track the small plane. Maybe because it doesn't factor in digital zoom when tracking but it needs more testing.

If you use a solid generated plane there is not enough tracking data available. The tracker works best on "real surface" objects with a lot of details as a base for the tracking data.

Good day, Gentlemen=)

Here is another experiment/test for you :

Mission objective :

Using the zoom tool (to zoom in on the middle plane), Activate bezier mask w/ tracking and track the plane.

1. Zoom in

2. Track

3. Zoom out before the sun shines too bright (I am pretty sure that there is no "predictive position tracking" algo that is used for this tracking tool, so it would be impossible to track once the suns rays light up the screen anyway...

You may only use the Vegas 16 studio platinum stock plugins.

Here is the file:

(its only 40 megs)

This is your mission Gentlemen, should you choose to accept it.

As always, should you or any of your Vegas16 Force be caught or killed, the Secretary will disavow any knowledge of your actions. This post will not self-destruct in ten seconds. Good luck, Gentlemen.

**Ladies & Gentlemen, that is ;) *
