Well, I'd personally still recomend you check out the Presonus Firestation. Lovely specs, and they even list SoFo apps as being compatible with the unit.

Great specs, Midi onboard, decent hardware monitoring + you can use it as a standalone ADAT>analog/analog>ADAT convertor or a 8:2 mixer.

Unless you definitely need the 8 Mic Pres (say, if you don't have a mixing desk) then I think it's one of the better products out there. Priced the same as the 828.

Sorry to turn this thread into a motu 828 forum. I have used the older Aarvark Direct 24/96 Pro I think it was and there tech support was A1 it only had 4 inputs. After my last year with the 828 I would say that Motu support alone is a VERY strong case to NOT help support there lack of PC support.

I can say one very nice thing about Motu. I broke my optical in port which made the unit stop functioning and they sent me a remanufactured one for $45.00. As nice as that is I wish they would hire a PC guy to help with the driver problems.
