Mov container can include lots types of Codecs, not only common AVC/AAC.

You may need to install quicktime and enable quicktime plugin in Preference to decode it.

Thanks for your advice. I have already activated QuickTime Plugin in Vegas.

But i'm not too keen to install QuickTime, as i understand it is not supported anymore and has several security vulnerabilities.

Finding it a bit strange, if Vegas Pro doesn't support media files from Vegas HUB !? 😒

@janndk I've had Quicktime for yrs with no problem, I don't use it, it's the codecs that come with it you wanted, I don't think there's any point activating QuickTime Plugin in Vegas if you haven't QuickTime installed

@janndk, you have to have quicktime installed, activating it in vegas alone wont work....

Do not pay attention to the repeated nonsense about it having several security vulnerabilities just because it is not supported anymore!..... Only purpose it serves on our system is to decode certain codecs.

@janndk I'm guessing you don't have these in the render options?

Well, when there is a choice of mov or mp4 download the mp4. It is strange but not all the VEGAS Content natively opens in Vegas. I also have no interest in installing QuickTime (which also has serious limitations in Vegas with the #/size of files it can support).

Thanks, everyone. I installed (reluctantly!) QuickTime, and can now import mov files to Vegas 👍 …however, still not without some problems 😒

I have been using mp4 files, but some Vegas HUB files are unfortunately only available in mov format 😕

@janndk, after dropping the MOV file on the timeline, export it to an MP4 file and then you can use it as an MP4 (unless it has transparency that needs to be kept...)

Thanks for suggestion. But i use .mov files only in rare cases where transparency is needed and source files are in that format. Some overlay footage in Vegas HUB is unfortunately available only in .mov format.

Felt a bit awkward, that i needed to run it through some "hobby software" (CyberLink PowerDirector) to be able to use Vegas content in Vegas Pro. Now i can at least import it directly.

That's because MP4 doesn't support transparency. You could convert it to uncompressed AVI which does support transparency. There are also some other formats that do as well.
