.mov files not importing into Vegas Pro

Bryce-Harr wrote on 1/29/2024, 6:46 PM

I have been trying for weeks to figure out how to import .mov files into my Vegas Pro 20. I have tried every suggestions/tutorial video online and cannot seem to figure out the problem. I honestly think I may have checked/unchecked an important setting at some point and that is the issue but I cannot pinpoint it. I know nothing is wrong with the file itself because both of my roommates use Vegas Pro 20 and they have no issue importing these exact same files. I know a solution would be to factory reset my Vegas Pro program but I have several text/video presets that I would hate to go through again so I am looking at any possible advice on how to fix this (I have tried to install Quicktime before as well). Thanks

.MOV file extension is a wrapper, not a format.

In order to help, we would need to know what is inside your files that have the .MOV file extension.

There aren't many settings that would affect imports of MOV files.

Depending on what kind of mov it is (see the MediaInfo link above) you could check or uncheck legacy AVC or HEVC decoding in preferences/ file io to get it to work.

If it's an older format enabling Quicktime in deprecated features is needed.

Resetting VEGAS wouldn't impact presets.

The fact that both your roommates don't have the same problem indicates something strange about your installation. Are you all on the same build of VP20?

Yes! We all purchased around the same time and have same exact build.

Here are also some screenshots of my settings, please let me know if any more are required for help!

In general I would uncheck legacy AVC decoding.

I'm not familiar with RLE encoding in VEGAS and this might actually require Quicktime. What version of the Quicktime plugin is installed?

Quicktime 7. Almost positive it's the most updated version... just reinstalled today.

Maybe reset VEGAS or ask your friend which Quicktime version they are using (which build of 7).

Seems like the same issue as here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-18-quicktime-error--123221/
