.mov files now unsupported format again SOLVED

Hi all
never had this one before...so I migrated my HDs to a new PC, some discs as they were, others I copied to a larger 6TB HD.
I now open a Vegas project containing FS7 MFX and Atomos DNxHD files.

First trouble:

On opening, Vegas needs to relocate the .mov files. OK I point to the new folder location , all there, find the first one. Vegas asks to use the same location for all the remaining files, I click yes, but Vegas asks me to relocate every single following file!
Ok I go through the 20 clicks, but then in the project windows, all files are offline / missing.

It seems to work with all the other fikes tho, MXF load fineafter pointing to the first file, as well as mp4-
I can play all the .mov files just fine in VLC by just clicking on them on the new HD.
Any idea what's going wrong here?

thanks!

If I recall correctly, you're using Vegas Pro 17.

In VP17 go to Options/Preferences/Deprecated Features (tab) and check 'Enable the QuickTime plugin'. Hopefully, this should enable the .mov files to play in VP17. If it doesn't work, please report back to this post and somebody with more experience with .mov media should have a better suggestion.

Thanks Dexcon!
I actually use V17, 18 and 19.
I had completely forgotten that I needed to enable that. I also installed quicktime and the Avid DNxHD codecs.
Now, when I try to import a DNxHD clip, Vegas only imports the audio. I can't recall having that problem on my old PC tho.
EDIT: Ok it works. I had installed the old version of the Avid DNxHD codecs. It works with the updated 2.7.3.

So...it appears the issue is not solved after all.

In my last post I wrote that Vegas bow opens all the .mov files OK.

Today I load the project, and the same issue happens all over again. I get the " unsupported format" error upon opening a .mov file. I reinstalled the Avid codecs and QT7, no change. No idea what went wrong in the meantime.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help!

EDIT: installed quicktime yet again...works now. Go figure...
