Move Playhead To A Specific Time

doubleJ wrote on 2/18/2020, 8:08 PM

This seems like it should be really easy, but I can't figure out how to jump the playhead to a specific time on the timeline.
I tried double-clicking on the time, right-clicking on the time, etc..., but I don't see any means of typing the time.
It's so difficult to get the playhead to an exact spot.
You have to zoom way in.
I just want a simple way to move the playhead to 5:00:00, 10:00:00, etc...

Ctrl-G

How strange...
That does work, but it's unintuitive.
It still doesn't allow you to change the visible time or pop up a box allowing you to type into it.
You just have to hope that you're typing what you want to achieve.
I don't care for Final Cut, but it let's you click in the time and just type (although they way it displays what you're typing is moronic).
Audition let's you click in the time and type (in a much more logical fashion than Final Cut).
Are there any other ways?

Double Click Here:

Type any time you want and press enter.

It's worked this way since Sonic Foundry days. It's so easy that a Mac or Premier user could do it.

Ah...
I was trying to change the time at the big time on the left.
I didn't even see the one at the bottom-right.

@doubleJ

Here's a less intuitive way to precisely place markers on the timeline that I've found useful in some situations.

Or you could set the grid spacing to integer seconds and set Snap to Grid.

You're right, that is less intuitive.
Hehehe...
I didn't know that window existed, though, so I can see some usefulness in it.

The only issue that I have with that is that my timeline is usually always just a bit off.
I might be able to see 49:57:07 instead of 50:00:00.
It may be because I don't have my grid to seconds, though (not sure what it is, as I'm not home).
I'll look at it, though.
That may end up being the best way (that's how I do track markers in Audition).
