... move through text ...

I'm interested in creating the effect of a person walking (or an object passing) through text on the screen ...

It appears that I need to isolate the person, or object, on a layer of its own with everything transparent except for the person or object... which can then be manipulated through the other layers of video. . .

Appears that a variation of masking might come in handy here. . .

Yes, the person will need to be green/blue screened.
You will have at least one layer that will have garbage mattes where vertical parts
of the letters are walked behind.

Segment the green screen and you will alternate the lettering above and below that
track.

Takes some planning but Vegas can handle it.

Hello RC...
it appears a bit like the walking through walls - except the person (object) does not disappear completely but remains visible after walking through the wall (in our case, the letters). . .

Perhaps, if I used a still frame - touch it up and prepare in Photoshop - then
moved the text forward and back through the layers. . .

Can't re-shoot with green/blue screen at this time ... but perhaps creating the text movement through a few still shot layers will work . . .

Let me think this through . . . thanks for the confirmation on my initial thoughts of isolating the person from the original video...
