Move to 4 midstream??

I am finalizing a show in VV3. (rough cut approved, mix, effects and color correction still needed, plus render to tape).

I have always been adament not to upgrade in the middle of a job (time, clients, aggravation).

Am drooling over new features.

Would I be nuts to upgrade at this point (crashes mainly, rendering issues possibly), or should I take the plunge?

Experienced answers only (pleeeeeze). Don't forget, the capture and edit are done and are VV3 based.

Vegas 3 projects can be imported no probs into V4. Having said that, given that you are in the middle of a project, if you do upgrade, open the project in V4 and immediately save the project with a different name and start editing...If all goes wrong, you will have your original project ready to open in Vegas Video 3. There have been no performance bugs reported as far as I know on Vegas 4 (crashes or rendering...)
BTW, V4 projects will not open in Vegas Video 3.
(Oh one more thing, if you have used Winmorph on the project, you have to download a patch from debugmode for Vegas 4)

Yes, Vegas 3 projects will work fine in Vegas 4. If you're worried about making the March 15th deadline for puchasing the upgrade then go ahead and purchase. You could always wait to install after you've finished your project. For that matter, you can leave Vegas 3 installed alongside Vegas 4 and have both available.
