Moved -- Lost CD but still have serial card, help?

Hello all,

I bought Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9 (with sound forge/cinescore etc) last summer. My husband and I moved and now I wanted to install it on my upgraded laptop. I've turned my house upside down trying to find the darn CDs, to no avail.

But I do have the serial card with authentication codes.

Does anyone know if I download the trial from the Web site here, will my codes work with that download?

Can I buy a CD-only version of the software since I still have the codes? (I looked and did not find an option to do so.)

Also, if someone happens to know what the CDs look like that might help me in locating them. I thought one was black and one was red but it's been more than a year since I used them, and my husband thinks he threw them out.

Thanks for your help.

This knowledgebase article may be of help: Creating a backup disc.

I know it sounds like that would require the original discs, but SCS talks about ordering the boxed components and downloading updates for the software you own. There will be a fee for ordering the discs, so it may be worth trying to download the trial version and use your key as you mentioned. However you may not be able to download everything that came in your package.

Heya, thanks for the response.

Just FYI I tried downloading the products I had already registered with my account and it worked! Unfortunately Cinescore was not registered when I initially installed it on my first laptop, so I am trying to figure out how to get Cinescore on my Sony account.

I'm stumbling through it, and I tried downloading the Cinescore trial but it needs a different serial code than I currently have (it's asking for a K4 code and mine starts with 1N4). It's not going to break my heart if I never get to use it (as I never did on my other laptop) but it would be nice to have if I get the urge.

Now the challenge is getting all of my preferences from my old computer to the new one. It took hours for me to get it just right before.

Figured it out. For future users, make sure you know the difference between cinescore and cinescore studio. Studio is a Vegas plugin, which is activated by right clicking on the body of a new audio track and selecting "generate media" (make sure you are clicking on the track and not on the header). Then you will be asked to supply the serial code.
