Movie Accepted

A movie which I made with SONY Vegas, particle Illusion, a few other small programs and the great advice and guidance of this forum, has been accepted by the H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Portland, Oregon (October 2-3-4). It's entitled Lovecraft Paragraphs. My goal was to just have the movie accepted and shown. Much of it is still images used with permission or purchased, stock footage, etc. that I have overlaid with my own stuff. Vegas worked beautifully.

If not for the expert advice and guidance of this board it may not have happened. I am greatly indebted to you all.

The trailer can be seen in these two places:

YouTube (HD available):

It can also be seen at IMDb (with a full synopsis available) at:

Thanks again for years of steady and thoughtful counsel!

Nice visuals -- my initial impressions are off-the-cuff and strictly fwiw.
1) Strong serif fonts are a bit unusual in film titles, mostly for historical reasons.
2) You used fades consistently throughout the trailer, they could be more effective interspersed with some hard cuts timed to the music (see below).
3) Concert bells for some of the underscore, but all of it? Would have gone for some deep orchestral and drum hits to accent the visuals.

All in all, I loved the clips and stills, and your treatment. You have a knack for color and visual amplitude; support it, not soften it with the editing and underscoring.

Ah! Reberclark . . I loved all of it. Very haunting indeed. Yes, of course I know what you did, but that didn't get in my way to be entranced by it. The SFx I liked all the way through. Ah yes that ole Alpha channel select in Lagarith for Pi - I remember it well . ..

Actually, 'cos of it being Lovecraft, I would have screwed around a tad more with the V/O and make it a bit more threatening and goofy? Just a bit though . . .

Grazie

Thanks Grazie! The trailer was an afterthought that was "thrown together" at the very last minute. If the thing is ever picked up for distribution I suppose I'd do an in-depth re-edit if they wanted one.

Following your advice, adventures and counsel on this board have helped me immensely thru the years. Thanks again!
