What version of QuickTime? What OS? Post the text view results from MediaInfo (free download).

Silly question -- are the Techsmith codecs installed?

I can't specifically answer your question regarding your system and the specific mp4 video file, but I can say you can render many different video formats from Camtasia.

Do you still have access to the original camrec file and the Camtasia software? Or is this a file you've received and have to work with as-is?

I have rendered wmv files from Camtasia and they worked fine in Vegas Pro9 and Pro12.

Lately I have extracted an avi from the camrec file because it's much faster than rendering. Unfortunately this extracted avi won't work in my Vegas Pro12, but I use Handbrake to convert the avi to mp4 and that works in Vegas.

Have you tried converting the mp4 file to another format using video file conversion software?

Thanks for your replies.

I did just try converting the .mp4 Cantasia file to another mp4 file using handbrake and that seemed to work ok.

Looks like that is the best way to go - I just don't understand why I couldn't import the Camtasia MP4 rendered file into Sony Vegas.

Well, if you'd answer musicvids and my Qs, we could help you understand why not

"I just don't understand why I couldn't import the Camtasia MP4 rendered file into Sony Vegas."

Possibly because Techsmith vfw codecs are not installed on your system

Thanks - I tried saving the file into an AVI format using Camtasia and that worked ok - also installed the Techsmith Codecs. I did try to use Mediainfo but my malware protection detected a problem.
