movie studio 11 hd platinum - rendering stalls

I rendered a 3+ minute video the other day and others over the past year without any problems . Yesterday, two projects a bit over 10 minutes long stopped at 85% or more rendering with an "unidentified error". I've tried numerous changes but nothing works. I prefer to render as avi -- . I didn't render separately (twice) for my 3 minute project and it is fine though it was not avi format. I've rendered larger files than this in the past. I'm not sure where the error file is.

I've tried prerendering but it also stalls before it reaches the end (at a different point, however). Although I get the error message, the avi file is saved and is okay up to the point where it stops--maybe i should put in a bunch of 'junk' at the end and just delete it from the avi file and then put it all back together for final rendering....but this shouldn't happen ... I've released all my memory for the project and there really isn't much 'unused' files in the projects to be deleted. I mean it's not a huge file! I've built 30 minute and more files in the past with a much older version.

Any ideas?

Windows 7 64bit professional; Sony Vaio i7 quad-core laptop 4gb memory. 106 gb available space on hard drive...more when I delete all the crashed files.

Thanks.

Long time no see, azhot. Were you in a coma? :)

We can't help much without knowing the project properties, types of media in the project and the render template used.

Download MediaInfo and post the text properties of your source video.

Haven't heard from me since Platinum 11 hasn't given me any problems all this time.

Current project, I uploaded video from my camera and phone (both Sony). Those don't appear to be a problem. Others are photos...some large. Music (mp3). I'll get specific info and send.

In the meantime, I rendered the material in separate sections. Although I still had a few problems. In reviewing the renders, where they bogged down, I noticed that they included the NewBlue MSPPS transitions. I really like the transitions....so it may be I am using too many? I replaced two of those, and pulled out one photo and put it back in the timeline (it was 'jittery' -- jumped around with the surrounding picures in the rendered avi file) and then it didn't bog down...but I went ahead and kept it in 2 sections and created a new project with the two rendered files. Could have done this right away and saved a lot of time. Also, I had selected the template for NTSC DV Widescreen and changed that to NTSC standard in the end just in case that was a problem. I did keep the field order as upper field -- that seems to have made the final much better than in the past with the 'lower' selected.

I did a render as...an avi file and used the NTSC template....not sure if it was widescreen or what right now but on the screen it all seems to have fit the screen fine on both my old 'tube' tv and on the LED set.

In Options, Preferences, Video - I'm not always certain what should be the Dynamic RAM (i changed that to 300 although I really don't need to see a preview at all) and the Max. # of rendering threads. It used to be 4 (program default?) but I lowered that to 2. I have Sony Quad Core i7 Windows 7 Professional but only 4gb memory. For this type of work, and software, I know it would be best to have as much memory as I can get on the Vaio.

In the end, it came out great.

Thanks for your prompt response. Now if you can get Sony to get back to me on my Xperia phone that drains battery life after 2 hours ...of non-use.
