Movie Studio 13 & Sony VST Server Failed to Launch

Movie Studio 13 failed to launch.
The clue, is a popup "Sony VST Server Failed to Launch".

Happened after upgrading Acid Music Studio to Acid Pro 7.
Movie Studio 13 was working prior to that.

I bought the Platinum Suite late May 2015. No issues with all components.

My system: Xeon5670 6core (i7 equiv), 12ram, SSDs only
I have used Acid + Sound Forge on and off since 1997 for small production. Came back to this sphere because I still like the familiar UI.

Acid Music Studio or the newly installed Pro 7 have no problem with VST plugins.
I have very few VST plugins (purposely that way to keep it clean). Only Sony bonus vsts + Kontakt legit demo.

But since Acid Pro 7 installation, Movie Studio cannot be opened
message "Sony VST Server Failed to Launch"

The problem persists after the tedious process of uninstalling MS13 943
reinstalling MS13 955.

This is very frustrating. Upgrading to a Sony audio product would cause total malfunction of a video production product!

Thanks for any advice and pointers.

Just to add: I have tried "Run as Administrator". Doesn't work.

Still get Sony VST Server Failed to Launch.

Read the FAQ again...

Tried Ctrl Shift to launch Movie Studio...

Still get Sony VST Server Failed to Launch.

Consistently, it hangs right at the point of

mda Combo.dll

Whatever that is...

Okay problem solved. I shall keep this post here for others who may have the issue.

Found the solution in the relevant Knowledgebase area:
https://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1382

----------

If it hangs on DirectX plug-ins, please try the following:
-Be sure to include a space between the last quote and the beginning of the command line argument.

1. Right-click on the launch icon.
2. Select Properties, then the Shortcut tab.
3. Add the following command outside of the quotes in the Target field: /NODXGROVEL
4. Select 'Apply' and then 'OK'

-----

I can now launch Movie Studio.

So it turned out, mda Combo.dll is DirectX plug-in related.

Glad the problem is solved. Not glad that I have to go through all these.

Back to shooting midi latency issues. Cheers.
