I am new to this and just can not figure out how to add my go pro footage into the video editing software. I get the error:
Warning: An error Occurred while opening one or more files.
The file is an unsupported format
These files are MP4 which is on the list. I have downloaded a couple of video converters to try and get these to upload with no success in MP4 or AVI. What am i missing?
What method are you using to add the video to your computer and your project?
I would not recommend converting the video unless you know what you're doing. You may end up making the video less rather than more compatible to video editing.
Instead, I'd recommend you open a sample of your video in the free download MediaInfo. In MediaInfo, set View to Text and then copy the report it generates and post it to this forum.
I am just copying the videos off of my GoPro SD card.

I tried changing the framerate to 50 but still the same issue. When I go to load the video and I have 'All Media Files' selected they don't even show up. I have to change the selection to 'All Files' in order to see them. Which is weird because it is an MP4...?

I GOT IT!!!! had to uninstall and reinstall the software. Man, I think I have three hairs left on my head! Thank you for the help.
Uninstall and reinstall... the GoPro software or the VMS14? I just purchased, downloaded, and activiated VMS14 because I could not get my mp4 video into MS13. I do have both 13 and 14 installed on the computer now. Would this cause a problem having both installed at the same time?
The mp4 that I am attempting to use was recorded through a game capture device. I have included the Mediainfo for one of these files.

VMS14. I had to delete the entire program off my PC then reinstall and everything is working perfectly now.
I have some mp4 videos that will go into the program, like the ones I made using Any Video Converter; yet the ones from my game capture won't work. I wish I could find a more concrete answer before I do a uninstall/reinstall. I live in bush Alaska and the internet is slow, so another 3 hours to download would suck.

Maybe a couple options: (1) If you navigate to the Windows Uninstall, it may allow you an option of Repair, which would not require a new download. (2) Try converting the files with the fantastic Handbrake, recommended above.
