Movie Studio 14 won't start

Jillian_A wrote on 3/7/2017, 3:15 PM

I upgraded to the new Movie Studio 14 build 105 and installed it and the NB extensions and HitFilm toolkit.

The program will not get past the splash screen where it indicates it is creating windows. I've tried starting straight and as Administrator. Sometimes the splash screen "freezes" and at other times it gives me the error screen. After I installed MS14, MS12 and VegasPro14 still start with no problem, but MS 13 would not start until I re-booted and started it as Administrator. It is now starting Okay.

The error messages I get from MS 14 read:

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone else having problems starting MS14? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Cornico,

I tried removing the NewBlue software. Now MS14 nor MS13 will start. They both get all the way to "creating windows" on the splash screen, then abort. I'm wondering if I need to uninstall MS13.

MS 12 and Vegas Pro 14 still start and they are the programs I use most of the time. I upgraded to MS14 since I never liked the new interface of MS13.

Anyway, thanks for the advice.

Just wanted to give an update to this topic.

On March 08 I submitted a ticket on this issue, and finally received a reply on April 27 directing me to do the first thing I had tried to get Movie Studio 14 to start. Basically Magix indicated MS14 will only run on an administrator account, which is silly. Just to make sure I went through the complete steps of uninstalling and re-installing in an administrator account, but MS14 still will not start. I can still use MS12 and VegasPro14, so all is not lost. Installing MS14 completely killed MS13 and MS14 has never started on either of my systems.

So, Magix does respond to tickets, even it it takes them almost two months, but they obviously do no have a clue what is going on.
