Movie studio 16 Plat, constant not responding

Im having constant issues with not responding errors. importing and just all around editing will at some point, usually sooner than later, Freeze up and stop responding. any ideas ?

Im on a newer Acer tough book.

EDIT: Actually these are the specs for VMS17 not 16. Sorry I cannot recall if 16 was much different.
