Movie Studio 17.0 Platinum freezing/crashing

Jan-vanEgmond wrote on 9/24/2020, 6:11 AM

For as long as I use Movie Studio (since 14) it is freezing frequently. Sometimes more than others.
Since the recent update of Movie Studio 17 a few weeks ago it freezes more frequently. Up to several times per hour right now. Sometimes even before loading the recovered work resulting in losing work. I try to save my work several times per minute.

I increased the priority of the Movie Studio app in the Tast Details.

Is there documentation on all the things I can check and verify to debug this? Or someone to help me with this?
An overview with tips and tricks to try, settings to validate.

It seems I can't add it. Is there a limitation to how much I can put in this? It is 149kb text.

Your link gives 'Access denied'. You need to make it available to others.

Sorry, should be accessible by now.

That is a file with variable framerate and that is your problem I think.
Convert it with Handbrake to a steady framerate (15?) and try again.

Hi j-v, Thanks. So you recommend to first determine what I want to do with the project right now and in the future, and make sure to align the frame rate upfront? Right?

Fair. Thanks!

No, I only recomment to convert this type of files with a bitrate that is so much variable, from 3 fps - 576 f/s, in a program to convert it to staedy framerate and than use that file in a video EDITOR ( a player is something totally different)
