Canon DM-GL2 A Video Camera

Try to capture in screenblaster but program freezez after about 10-30 seconds which during that time it is dropping frames 150-500 frames.

I also tried the Demo version of Vegas and it does the same thing on a different PC with the same configuration.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Wait, did you just say Vegas 3.0b? That's ancient! Please download the trial of Vegas Platinum 8.0d and tell us if this problem still exists.

And you probably need a better monitor than 800x600 at 75Hz. Buy yourself a SXGA monitor for $150. You have a super fast computer and an ancient monitor to do video! :o

Maybe 800x600 is needed to see what's on the screen better. Trial was used post says.

Anyway, how do you have your cam connected to the computer? USB or Firewire? Most MiniDV cams are designed to transfer video via Firewire to the computer, USB is for transfering pics.

What hard drive are you capturing to? It could be that the hard drive isn't able to keep up witht he video stream hence the dropped frames.

Good Morning,

I am using Firewire to connect to the MiniDV, and I am using a Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 80Gb SATA Hard drive.

Thanks for your help.

Could the IE7 version be the culprit? I have 3 other machine running and Movie Studio 3.0b works fine (Same configuration PC's are Indentical except for they are running IE6)? What do you think?

Thanks

Jesse

Not sure. I know the newer version of VMS require certain versions of Quicktime but don't know what could be causing a conflict with 3.0.

However, you mentioned the problem is with capturing not VMS, correct? If so, try using WinDV to capture your video and see what happens. I'm not familier with Screenblaster. Does VMS 3 come with VideoCapture like the newer versions do. That's what I use to capture video.

BTW, why are you using such an old version of VMS?
JustJ wrote on 7/2/2008, 2:03 PM
I get the same thing with VMS as I do with MovieStudio 3.0b so it does not pay to upgrade.

Your issue is with capturing not Movie Studio, correct? Try WinDV.

Has it ever worked for you? Could it be the cam that has the problem, not the computer/capture app? Have you tried capturing with another cam?
