Movie Studio or Pro X extras for Vegas Pro?

Former user wrote on 2/28/2023, 2:17 AM

Are there good packages of note that currently come with Movie Studio to use for Vegas Pro? Or any other software of deal available to add to the VP arsenal? Pro X has proDAD Mercalli V6 Plug-Ins for MAGIX--is that any good and can it be used for Vegas? I got the New Blue stuff which came with Movie Studio in prior years which I use for VP. Any other deal packages out there to enhance Vegas?

Do you have a need for Mercalli is the question. Is it any good? That's subjective. If you have video that needs stabilization, I guess yes. I have Mercalli V5 Suite with Vegas. I've never used it, but it's there if I need to.

The packages that you see for VPX and MMS are keyed to those products only. proDAD doesn't make a Mercalli 6 plugin for Vegas. I have the standalone version I bought last year.

Here is a LIST of software available for Vegas. Some are free, others, reach for you credit card. I personally wait for Black Friday in November. That's when almost everything is on sale.

Sounds a little contradictory to me...Why buying an expensive plugin and SAL application when not using them?

No.

No. Magix Video Pro X14 includes a Newblue TotalFX Magix Edition. But it is only compatible with VPX or Magix Movie Studio.

No, It can't support Vegas.

I got the New Blue stuff which came with Movie Studio in prior years which I use for VP.

I guess it was just a fluke. When they sold Newblue they accidentally sold the full version of TotalFX that is also compatible with Vegas, Resolve, etc. They may already be regretting it.

@lan-mLMC, for sure NBFX is regretting the full version of TFX7 that they sold with Magix MEP for $50. But there is even another consumer editor that has the same TFX7 package for $99, still a great price.

@3POINT, if you knew how much I paid for them, you too would have purchased. I bought the V5 suite after being contacted by sales at proDAD. I said I wanted to use it on two different computers since I collaborate with an editor in Belgium (I am in Poland). The price was one we couldn't pass up. Mercalli 6 was and upgrade to 5, so no way full retail price. I have them for those moments where Vegas stabilizer will not give a good result. When I personally shoot, I have tripod, monopod, gimbal and wonderful built into the camera image stabilization.

@lan-mLMC @3POINT @Reyfox Thanks for the responses. I found out about the NewBlue deal through this forum and thought Mercalli would be more of the same. While NewBlue maybe lost money, this could also be a way to get users to try their products and maybe buy the upgrades. @Reyfox Thanks for the comprehensive list of Vegas plugis as well, I had it, lost it, and then have it again. While add-ons to Vegas are cool, I find them a steeper learning curve. Some projects I am stuck on because I still learn how to use add-ons (not to mention Vegas' finer tools) and the tutorials are not trivial. Oh well.

@Former user that NBFX price I paid also included a video editing software. TFX7 will be here for a long time to come. And it contains everything they have except the streaming software. For me, it was a "steal". I bought BorisFX Continuum Complete on a Black Friday. They looked at the Boris plugins I had registered, gave me an outstanding price because of them and the BF day sales. Couldn't say no. Updating (if you choose) every year is about $150 on Black Friday. $12.50 a month, or maybe 2 Starbucks coffees. Ignite Pro got through Humble Bundle with HFP for $25.

I don't know if sales like these will ever happen again, but my "eye" is always on the lookout.

@Reyfox I have a pending Continuum invoice with BorisFX, a deal because I have some Continuum Units through Vegas, still a lot. Saving pennies. The upgrade fee looks pretty good, then it is all the more worth biting the bullet. What is Ignite Pro and Humble bundle? Is it Vegas friendly?

Ignite Pro was the VFX from HitFilm Pro released as an OFX plugin package which worked in other NLEs such as Vegas Pro. Ignite Pro was dropped as a product by FXHome (the then owners of Hit Film Pro) in around July 2021. If you don't already own Ignite Pro, then it is no longer possible to purchase it other than via a private purchase (eBay or the like) - but you'd need Ignite Pro version 4.1 or later for it to work in Vegas Pro 17 or later (I think it was VP17).

Humble Bundle provides bundled software offers - it's like a 'remaindering' store. The last Humble Bundle (HB) offer not all that long ago involving Vegas Pro was for Vegas Pro 18 bundled together with other plugins though not all of those plugins turned out to be compatible with Vegas Pro - it looks like HB didn't research compatibility all that well when they put together the bundle. If nothing else, it was super cheap and gave those who took up the offer a budget way to get Vegas Pro 20 at the upgrade price.
