Movie Studio Platinum 13, image timelapse

I've done a bajillion searches for how to do timelapses in this version, but it always comes up with 12, or Vegas results. Which haven't worked.

The main problem is when i go to Add Media and then select the first (or any) image to use as the start of the timelapse, no matter what image i choose the Stills: Open sequence box is always greyed out. As is the Last Image field. And the Custom... button. And the About... button.

The images are all from the same camera (GoPro2). They are all .jpg. They all have the same name, with a sequence number after each. And there is nothing else in the (dedicated picture) folder.

So is it just that this version of the programme doesn't allow image timelapsing? It's more difficult than it should be to do anything with images in this program...

Adding over 1,000 (1,289 to be exact) 1024x768 pictures into the timeline manually is not an option. Computer has no probs handling those pics, but it'll take decades to add them in individually.

Help please? :(

Can you post a few of the file names? There might be an issue here that we will recognize.

Yep, but i don't know if that'll be relevant, as i've tried renaming them all but they still didn't show up. First pic is called; cloudz (1). And then sequences up to; cloudz (1289).

If you have parenthesis, get rid of them. It should be something like cloudz001.jpg, cloudz002.jpg. That seems to be the type of numbering it looks for. You can test it by just renaming the first 2 or 3 and try to open it. It should give you the sequence option.

I can assure you that the process works exactly the same in Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 13.
I have just done a test and it is working for me.

The main thing that can cause the settings to be greyed out, is if your images have been sorted in Descending order instead of Ascending. If this has happened, right-click a blank area inside your folder and select Sort by/Ascending.

Crap, it's the brackets that are the cause. Not keen on renaming each one individually, so hopefully still have the original files on the GoPro!

When i resize photos the programme also puts the new size in brackets after the file name, so should try find a way for it to stop doing that.

Thanks for your help peoples, i had a feeling it would be something simple 😳.

There are programs that will batch rename the files.
