Movie Studio Platinum 16: "The activation of AAC (MC) failed."

Hi there,

I've recently installed Movie Studio Platinum 16. When I try to import any MP4 file, I get a dialog box with a spinning load indicator for a while, followed by the following error message:

"The activation of AAC (MC failed. If you are using the program as a guest, please repeat the activation procedure with administrator rights."

I'm running Movie Studio with admin rights. I've also tried deactivating Movie Studio and then running it again as admin, so that the activation/registration process happens with admin rights. I'm also connected to the internet. None of this seems to have any effect.

Look in the settings of your default browser if there is a setting that forbids app to connect to the internet.
Or go to your Windows user account a change there your rights

Are you by any chance running an operating system other than Windows 10 64 bit?

Not sure what you mean exactly by that. Browsers don't control internet access for other apps. Do you perhaps mean my firewall? If so, I've verified that it's allowing Movie Studio to connect to the internet. Also, I can activate Movie Studio just fine. I'm assuming that would fail too if I didn't have internet access.

I've tried running Movie Studio with a Windows account that has administrator rights. (Which, by the way, is not recommended for normal use due to the potential security risk - always have your admin account separate from your user account. If Movie Studio can't run without admin rights, that's a serious flaw in the software.)

Are you by any chance running an operating system other than Windows 10 64 bit?

Nope, I have the standard Win10 64-bit.

Did you ever find a fix for this please?

Yes - I uninstalled Vegas and started using DaVinci Resolve.

Thanks. Headed that way myself but I invested in Vegas Pro 18 :(
