Movie Studio Platinum v17 b204

Why do you change all my settings with an update? Is it that difficult to keep my prefs and restore them??

Right now I have an unsolvable issue where I am adding text and it is somehow quantizing the view length of the text to the frame changes in my video clip. And Quantize to Frames is NOT checked (it WAS for some stupid reason thanks to the update, and I had to first figure out why my cursor had no fine control and only snapped to every two seconds...)

It seems there is however a lingering quantize issue because my text -- even though its length goes beyond the frame changes in the clip -- starts with the frame change and ends when that part of the clip goes to another scene. It's the best way I can explain this. Hope it makes sense.

Any other users please lmk what I need to adjust to solve this, thanks

The first VMS17 platinum update "forgot" to retain user settings but the subsequent Build 204 update did retain them. At least for me.

As for your problem I don't understand what it is as it's obviously difficult to describe. But try going to the generated media item (text event) and click on the "Match Event Length" button/icon. This sometimes solves problems.

Well it seems to apply in this case where I imported an anim Gif file. It is a simple slideshow where a single still scene changes every two seconds. The text media I add over it will only display in two second intervals as a result, even if I drag the text media past a "scene change." If I have the text for 2.5 seconds, it will continue the text media for 4 seconds, as long as it lines up with the changes in the import gif.

But it seems to only happen in the preview window - not the exported video. And it happens in v16. Odd, I'd like to see what I'm going to get when I'm editing

Although in this update for whatever reason I can't export videos to the desktop, I get an "unknown error has occured" - and I can export videos to desktop with v16

Quantize to frame should do that, quantize to a frame boundary, not every two seconds. You should ALWAYS have quantize to frame enabled when editing video. It sounds more like you have a frames per seconds mismatch between your source and your timeline. What is the framerate of your project? If it is 1 frame per 2 seconds, this could be the problem.
