Movie Studio Platinum wont start

I'm sure you guys get this question all the time because it sure seems to happen to me alot. I have Had Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 for a couple of years. Currently it wont start. It goes through the splash screen in the beginning, then gets an error - "An error occured starting Movie Studio Platinum. Error 0x80131902 (message missing). Failed to initialized script host.

It seems to me that my Adobe updates might have something to do with this. I remember it happening right after an update, so i got rid of the update and it would work. Not so this time.

My computer is definately has enough muscle to run this program. Just wondering if anyone else has this problem or thinks it is associated with Adobe updates.

Would Sony give me another copy of this program just to get it working again? Just wondering what to do.

Thanks. Jerry.

Have you tried a reinstall? Might fix it.

Sorry to sound stupid, but how would i go about doing that? When i purchased it, i thought it was a one time download?

I did find some info on the error that said to repair your .NET framework files, but that didn't help.

EDIT - wow. Some major censoring going on there. What i said wasn't bad at all. lol.

Try holding the CTRL and Shift keys immediately after launching VMS to reset it to default settings.

Go to My Account > My Software, you should be able to download VMS again if necessary. You don't have a copy of the original download to use for reinstallation purposes?

Uninstall, reinstall is a good suggestion.

Is this somewhere on a Sony webpage?

The top of this page has a menu.

Even after a fresh uninstall/reinstall and registering, i get the exact same error.

I did get rid of a couple of my .NET programs after one published SONY article said to try that. Could that be keeping it from starting now after the reinstall?

You definitely .net framework for the software to work properly. Did you try a clean install ?
