Movie Vegas 12 - (build 896 - 64 bit) Crashes

Movie Vegas 12 (build 896 - 64 bit version) began to continuously crash upon program start-up.

Being that support without a paid subscription can take several weeks to a month, I decided to post in the forums how this problem was resolved.

I tried all the standard things like Running in Administrative mode, reinstalled a fresh copy, cleaned my registry, etc. Nothing was working,

Decided to review the error messages that come up in the report and saw there was some kind of I/O error occurring, so I did a search on I/O errors and found a really old topic about it back when Quicktime 9 was still around.

Went to Apples website and downloaded the current Quicktime software, did install and problem was immediately resolved.

That might be something I try from this day forward whenever the Sony software crashes instead of waiting for a new update to address the problem, if nothing else it will become a new step in the troubleshooting.

So again, the solution was as simple as downloading and installing a new version of Quicktime.

It's something we recommend so often on these forums that we get tired of saying it.

But thanks for the reminder, RGAP. Updating Quicktime and your video card's drivers (from the ATI or nVidia web sites) can go a long way toward solving basic bugginess.
