This weekend I upgraded from an old version of Vegas Movie Studio to Movie Studio Platinum 13. I installed and registered the 64-bit version on my ASUS X750JA laptop with Intel Core i7 2.40GHz CPU and 6GB RAM.
In the past two days, for my daughter, I've been using Movie Studio to edit a video project including short video clips in .MOV format, imported from her iPhone. So far, Movie Studio has CRASHED REPEATEDLY, leaving the .vf files apparently CORRUPTED AND UNUSABLE. Even auto-saved backups cannot be successfully opened! Some events on the video track appear whited out (i.e. no thumbnails). On pressing 'play', audio is heard but the video preview window remains black. Then the program becomes unresponsive and I have to close it using Task Manager. ;-)
The old Vegas Movie Studio on my old Windows XP PC worked great, but this is the most unstable software I've ever purchased and installed. I think a refund would be in order. Should this product have ever been put on the market?
This weekend, I wasted about six hours editing my daughter's video project and she was in tears because she has to present it at school next week. Nothing to show for all our hard work, even though we saved the project each time we added and trimmed a new clip. Now, none of the .vf files we saved, or even the autosave.vf.bak files can be successfully opened and played!
Can someone help me resolve this issue or tell me how to get a refund?
UPDATE: I just uninstalled the 64-bit version of Movie Studio Platinum 13 and then installed the 32-bit version. The 32-bit version successfully opens all the .vf files, which can then be played and edited. Why does the 32-bit version function well on my laptop but not the 64-bit version?
