Have you tried pressing Alt + L or R arrows?

Are you using the numeric keypad numbers? Do you have NumLock on?

If you cannot get your numbers working (for whatever reason), you can always zoom really far in on the timeline and drag. That buys you time to work on your project while you figure out what's up with the numbers.

I notice there is no numeric keypad or NumLock key on my Lenovo Thinkpad. Is there any other way to move the event by very small extent ?

Have you tried my suggestion above? Can't think why this would not work with your laptop keyboard after placing the cursor close to the point you are concerned with.

Do you know how to zoom in on the timeline? You can zoom in as far as you want and then drag frame by frame if you wish. That is another way to move events.

Yes I did. But that way all the events are zoomed, which is not convenient for what I was trying to do. Is there any way to zoom only one event.
