Moving Audio

I have a combined video/audio event. While leaving the video as is, I would like to shift three seconds of audio to appear a few seconds earlier and replace it by silence.

I know how to add an envelope to silence out the piece of audio I want to silence. But I don't see a way to shift it earlier. If I try cut and paste, it cuts the video along with the audio.

Right-click on the event and look for the option to Group/Clear Group. You may also be able to just select the event and press the U key.

You'll then be able to move the audio and video portions independently.

I'm no expert given the depth of this program (Platinum 9.0 for me).

Highlight the track.
Go to Insert/audio envelope in menu bar.
Double click the envelope line itself 2X on each side of the audio you want to edit.
There should be two 'nodes' on each side.
Then pull the envelope line down on that portion to reduce to 0db.

Thanks. Ungrouping let me cut the audio piece I wanted out.
