Moving AVI clips frame by frame

If I want to slide an AVI clip to the left, or right a few frames, it doesn't work. It will slide over about a 1/2 second, or a second at a time. What am I doing wrong? How can I get the clip to move to the left, or right by frames.

I'm not talking about shorting, or stretching, I want to move the entire clip over. Thanks:)

Select the clip, press Numpad 1 to move 1 frame left and Numpad 3 to move 1 frame right.

I went out and bought me a ShuttleXpress and its great with Vegas, makes editing that bit easier and faster... and with the programable buttons set to my liking it a great help..
