Moving text after object in video

Hello,

I´ve seen a nice effect on a TV commercial in Sweden that I´d like to copy ;)

They show a product, it has a price-text beside it. The price-text is nothing special in itself, just a 2d text. The effect is that the text is fixed a few centimeters on the side of the product. It follows the product even though the background is moving. I.e. one man is holding up a chocolate bar and it says 9.90:- in graphics just beside it.

I know this can be done manually with pan/crop and a lot of keyframes, but is there a way to automate this? To sort of stick the text to a pattern in the video?

Anyone know how this can be done the best way?

Rgds.

Linus - Wellll . . .
Just done a test with Track Motion. I've removed the necessity to physically add each separate K/F diamond. I've found a way to have them added on each change in direction of the Track Motion:-

1 - Text Track on Track 1

2 - Insert a Video on Track 2

3 - Set Preview speed to 0.25 - this gets the video to Preview at a manageable speed.

4 - Get ready to pull the Track Motion [ TM ] about the Preview Screen

5 - Preview and using the TM on Track 1 move the "F" frame around so that the "graphic" moves on the PReview.

6 - Stop the Preview motion. You will see a diamond has appeared on the TM - now you can "Expand Track Keyframes" - this will show the diamonds in a larger format. This is good for your eyesight!

7 - Start the Preview again and move Track 1 "F" to new position - Stop Preview. You now have the new postions vector shown and a new K/F in the Track Keyframe.

Best I can come up with so far. It's pretty cool and gives most of the ease you wish - not everything, but it is somewhere there.

Hope this helps,

Grazie

Get Commotion Pro or After Effects. They can do this. It is NOT a cheap effect.
