mp3 Audio

Installed Vegas Pro 19 (build 458)on new PC running Win 11. Any audio tracks that has an mp3 audio on it plays back as an inaudible unrecognizable noise. It sounds a bit like very high speed morse signals. Any audio associated with camera footage plays fine. What needs adjusting any ideas?

If you do a forum search using the keyword mp3, you find lots of posts and comments about mp3 audio screeching of the like. The following post, marked as resolved, from around one year ago may help:

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-19-does-not-read-mp3-files-correctly--133849/

Or this on from mid-2020 posted by a forum Moderator: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/mp3-issues-not-loaded-screeching-noisy-sound--121407/#ca834716

Otherwise, you may need to trawl through the posts/comments and see if any of the suggestions work for you.

The same thing happened with my new computer in late 2020, but as there were only a few mp3 audio events I just transcoded them to the .wav format via another NLE or audio editor - unfortunately I can't remember exactly which one.

If you have Sound Forge Audio Studio installed, see this comment from Magix on the Sound Forge forum for how to remove the '2016 Magix Low Latency”
 https://www.magix.info/us/forum/audio-issue--1290482/#ca1738999

This driver is known to affect Vegas and other apps with audio besides Sound Forge Audio Studio.

FYI, Sound Forge Pro does not install the Magix Low Latency 2016 driver.

Same issue on my new laptop (win 10} . I did a factory "reset" , not a reinstall. Worked fine after that. j

This was an informative thread on mp3 issues in Vegas that recommends other tools for audio rips: https://www.reddit.com/r/VegasPro/comments/pxvqrh/fix_for_vegas_not_importing_mp3s/
