Vegas Pro 19 does not read mp3 files correctly

FlorianC. wrote on 1/21/2022, 7:20 AM

I have problem. I just moved to Vegas19 and now i'm in the middle of my university project and Vegas is being vegas yet again. I have my old libary of mp3 music and soud effects, vegas 14 had no problems with it, but 19 now after importing mp3 file creates an *** like it was corupted. I tried many files and the problem is in the program, not files.

Do you by any chance have Sound Forge Audio Studio installed?
The '2016 low latency driver' which is installed with SFAS, had been known to cause noise issues.. not only in SFAS, but in VP and other apps as well. If this is the case, see this remedy from Magix.

FWIW, this is not an issue with Sound Forge Pro.

Yes, SFAS15, it was a part of the pacake during update.

I've deleted it from the computer, but its still broken.

Perhaps:

1, delete all *.sfk files

2, import the mp3 music anew into VEGAS19 (which recreates the sfk again)

Try reset your VP19 https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

rraud wrote on 1/21/2022, 4:42 PM

@FlorianC., did you remove the 'Magix Low Latency 2016' item from the registry? Uninstalling SFAS will not remove it unless you use a third-party uninstaller like 'Revo Uninstall' that scans the registry and other folders for leftover data and removes it.

FlorianC. wrote on 1/21/2022, 5:41 PM

I mean, I removed it from registry. SFAS is still there. I have removed all sfk files. About resetting VP19, there is no chance that it ll mess up my project files?

Your project files will not be affected. Resetting VP19 will only just 'make' the VP19 goes back to 'factory default'.

There is also a chance that this resetting can help 'fixing'* a problem.

An update on my issues with mp3 playback. After setting up Sound Forge and Pro19 on new Win11 PC. Mp3 files would not play in Pro 19 and Sound Forge. In Pro 19 the mp3 audio played back as an inaudible noise. In Sound Forge all I got was error message saying “unsupported format”.

The fix for Pro 19 was to remove 2016 “Magix Low Latency” using REGEDIT there is a thread on how to do this on the Sound Forge forum. But problem still remained with Sound Forge. My Sound Forge fix was to within Sound Forge FILE, RESET ALL PREFERENCES AND CACHED DATA. Now all good in both apps.
