MP3 encoding help or suggestion

I found myself creating 100 MP3 files this weekend being ripped from CD's. I realized the only app that I had installed on my laptop to do this process was Vegas. I needed this to be a quick and painless task of selecting CD tracks and having them automatically named and extracted to their own MP3 file.

Here's what I had to do:
Use the extract audio from CD. It automatically would convert them to .WAV format files into the media pool.
I then had to put each .WAV file onto a track then do a render as .MP3, then deleted that event and re-did this process for each additional .WAV file that was created. Very time consuming and tedious for a simple .CDA to .MP3 file conversion.

Does anyone know of a better way to do this? Maybe a way to load all .Wav files into the timeline and do a "render as .MP3" for each event?

It would be good to have an option in the "Extract from CD" to convert to any of the file formats supported by Vegas. I could have then just done this all in a one step process and saved hours of time.

any thoughts?

What you need is SIREN. Sadly, Sonic Foundry no longer sells this directly. However, you can still purchase it from Sony as part of their Screenblast suite. Browse here ...
http://www.screenblast.com/preview_root/preview/tools/preview_tools.html

(Warning, this website SUCKS bigtime! It's just plain awful. Do NOT resize the windows at all or you'll have to start over from the beginning again. Sony should be ashamed of themselves!)

Anyway ... back to our regularly scheduled program ... SIREN does batch ripping and conversion, names tracks semi-automatically, etc. Basically exactly what you're asking for, and it's only $30.

with Vegas, no. There's no other way, Brian.

It's Siren, or SoundForge and Batch Converter.

Thanks guys,
I already have Siren, just didn't have it installed on my laptop, so I was working with what I had installed, and I didn't have an internet connection at the time to download anything else. It just made me realize, that Vegas already has all the pieces to make this work.

Pipe,
Your jabs are weak. The difference between your jabs and mine is that I have enough intelligence to give you background information to show you why this is not needed. I give you alternative options when I criticize your ignorant ranting suggestions. You give nothing but pouting and whining. Go back to kindergarden and go stomp your feet and throw some more tantrums and maybe in another 20 years when you grow up, you can learn to have an intelligent conversation with constructive criticism with me.

Boo hoo...boo..hoo....wahhhh...boo hoo.
Grow up!!!
