Not sure about MP3. I do this all the time from our church, and I always get a CD that I import to SF andconvert to wav, 44 or 48 Khz.
I think you might be in trouble with some MP3 types.

How do you record the audio from the mixer? You could an audiorecorder, that records onto memorycards or just a laptop with line in and SF audiodtudio or other software running and live record the audio.

If you get the beginning of the MP3 file in sync then you can Ctrl-drag the end of it to sync the end. Ctrl-dragging to the left speeds up the file and Ctrl-dragging to the right slows it down.

Plural Eyes is a plug-in designed just for that. Primarily for multi-camera shoots .. it also works with multi-audio.

NOTE: to overcome the "drift" on a long mp3 file .. just cut it up into 10 or 15 min segments.

It's not free .. but there is a 60 day trial period for the Vegas version.
