My laptop broke last night, the store said right away they couldn't fix it. And therefor gave me a new one. Now I'm having a "screeching" sound if I try to use mp3 files that I have dowloaded from dropbox of NCS (nocopyrightsounds). Help?
Which build is your VMS Plat 15. The latest was 157.
Can you locate a log file for your Norton AV to see if it mentions removing or quarantining mp3plug2.dll. I'm not familiar with Norton so don't know what its file or location will be.
Look in C:\Program Files\Vegas\Movie Studio Platinum 15\FileIO Plug-Ins\mp3plug2 and check that mp3plug2.dll is there.
Build: 157. The mp3plug2.dll file is there. Norton seem to have tiggered when I dowloaded the file type. But only the first time :/ I have tired to reinstall both the mp3 file I want to use, was well as vms plat 15.
Did the problem files work okay on your old laptop?
Can you upload a short problem file somewhere such as Wikisend so we can download and try. I only have VMSPlat 16 installed but others I know still have VMS15.
Downloaded thanks. "Convex - 4U (feat. Jex Jordyn) [NCS Release].mp3" played okay with mp3plug2.dll on my VMSPlat 16. However it is badly clipped with over-recording. VMS showed 1.9db in the red for much of it. Opening it in Audacity confirmed the clipping. So it's probably not a good file (I'm no musical expert).
Means a lot that someone at least was willing to try help :) All their music is really loud in db. I usally turn it down in VMS15, to around 25% sometimes even less. And then it's pretty good for a quick video. The problem might not be solved but... after me playing around for a long time hoping to find a fix so I somehow could use the sound. I did find using VLC Media player (free program) to conver the file from mp3, to mp4 with only sound worked. And it only took a minut. If I find a better fix on my own later on I'll update in here or something.
You could try Audacity, a free sound editor. I did convert the file I downloaded with Audacity and re-export as mp3. I then tried uploading to Wikisend three times for you to try but failed. Probably because the file name indicated potential copyright issues to them. I'll try something else later.
