Substituting mp3plug2.dll with the one belonging to DVD Architect Studio 4.5 solves the problem but is an older dll version.
Could this orkaround cause future problems?

dunno if it will fix anything, but there is 8.0d version on platinum now.

Since your reply I tried the mp3plug2.dll enclosed into the demo version of the Vega Platinum. The result is the same.
The varius version of mp3plug2.dll are:
Movie Studio 8.0c - 3.0.0.3875.
DVD Architect 4.5 - 3.0.0.3848
Movie Studio 8.0d trial - 3.0.0.4200

The only working are the 3.0.0.3848 from DVD Architect and the 3.0.0.4078 from the
Sound Forge Audio Studio 9.0 (trial)

I have heard of instances of Vegas crashing because of some mp3s. I suggest you re-encode the mp3 file with itunes -- if it's a separate file.

I've already done that. No matter.
I also re-encoded with SUPER but the result is the same. Sometime it let me import some mp3 but whe I open the .vf file again the issue is there again.
So far with the dll I previously mentioned (3.0.0.4078) it is working fine.
