MP4 Audio From OBS Is Loud Static

Title says it all. Made an OBS video and remuxed it from .mkv to .mp4, it plays just find in VLC and media player, but when I try to edit it in Vegas Pro 21, the audio is just loud static. How do I fix this and why does it feel impossible to find answers on this? I remuxed it because it doesn't seem like Vegas seems to like .mkv files which is silly.

Can you share a screenshot of your audio settings in OBS?

Mkv support in VEGAS is limited so good idea to remux.

Convert the audio to a Vegas friendly format with Handbrake (or other).

I appreciate your all's responses, this is what my OBS audio looks like:

Here is the recording settings:

I tried FFmpeg PCM as well but had the same result, unless I just did it wrong (which is entirely possible). In the meantime I guess I'll just have to reformat the audio, but I figured by now Vegas Pro would have better compatibility with .mkv; yet another potential result of my lack of knowledge on how video encoding works rather than the lack of progress on the company's behalf.

This isn't saying so much. AAC should be fine. Where are the Muxer settings? MediaInfo on the final remuxed file could help too. https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Could you make a short sample file available for download somewhere? Happy to confirm if it's a general issue with VEGAS or just this file type.
