MP4 audio not importing

When I attempt to import a video which is in mp4 format, only the video plays. It shows a box for audio below but is missing the sound waves typically in the box. Mute is off and have tried moving it to other tracks.

More questions than answers-

Was it encoded in Vegas?
Can you post 'media report info' for the file. See this, especially section C-1
Does the audio playback normally elsewhere? .. If so, as a workaround, you could re-encode the audio in another app and mux it in

I don't think it will make any difference, but you can try rebuilding the audio waveform. "Veiw> Rebuild Audio Peaks"
