MP4 file contains no video

Hello everybody,

I have a problem with Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 which I don't seem to solve myself. I use Mirillis Action! to record gameplay footage. I record it in .avi and when I'm done I convert the files to .mp4 format with the implemented converter by my recording tool (Mirillis Action!).

In the past I haven't had any problems with editing those files in Sony Movie Studio. But I reinstalled my OS a couple weeks back and now I encountered a huge problem. When I want to drag my .mp4 file into the Sony Movie Studio timeline I can only insert audio and no video. When I try to match the media settings, it tells me that my file doesn't contain video.

This is weird to me because I can watch my .mp4 file with the Windows Media Player completely fine. I tried to record directly as .mp4 which seem to be recognised by Movie Studio. However if I convert the .avi files with the implemented Action! converter to .mp4, Movie Studio tells me it doesn't contain video. I compared both files, the converted .mp4 file and the original .mp4 file, both of them have the same details.

Right now I don't see what I did wrong. Before reinstalling my OS it worked well. I don't remember if I installed some sort of codec to make it work in the past. So I would be happy if someone has suggestions on how to solve this problem. Thanks!
