This is actually my solution as opposed to a question.
I was having trouble rendering an HD project. Some of the field clips were MXF. Some were uncompressed HD. I was trying to render to the 8mbps Windows Media Video HD format and it kept stopping at 8%. The error message was that I was too low on memory.
For this project I was using a 32 bit system running windows XP. It's a quad core system that came with 8 gb of RAM.
I tried the various adjustments to RAM preview recommended in the forum to no avail. Same issue.
The troublesome clip contained two SFX. For about 60 frames the video was accelerated to 300%. Also added was motion blur.
For me the best solution was to take that clip and render that SFX separately as an AVI, remove the clip with the effects and put the new, rendered clip in its place. After that the rendering continued without an issue.
