It probably doesn't indicate a drive failure but if you are concerned about the drive's health:

Right-Click on My Computer

Select Manage

Select System Tools / Event Viewer / System

Scroll through the entries looking for disk errors.

If you find some errors, download and run the disk manufacturers utility to verify disk operation.

More details as there is no resolution.
This is a 30 minute project to be authored as a chapter based DVD in DVDA.
MXF files processed with Raylight Ultra are on the timeline along with a few JPEGS, colour correction, audio tweeking, levels etc.
Project is in Vegas Pro 11 (build 511).
When rendering to MPEG2 the image flickers back and forth to black.
In short, I can't render this project.
A computer guy, which I am NOT suggested, this isn't the beginning of an HDD failure as I suspected.
Could it be hardware? processor, motherboard, sofrware?
Any thought appreciated.

Try rendering it out as a DV-AVI file and then use that to do your MPEG-2/AC-3 encode.
If that still doesn't work, open up a copy of Pro 10 with this project open, do a copy/paste from 11 to 10 (track-based FX will NOT get copied), save it under a new name and try rendering again.

edit: are you using the latest beta drivers for your video card?

I have seen a couple of other posts reporting black frames near the end of the render with Vegas Pro 11. Do a search of recent threads.

Thanks for the suggestions Mike.
I'll let you know the outcome.

Tried those two suggestions with the same outcome.
Drivers for my video card. Where do I get those?
john_dennis wrote on 1/4/2012, 7:38 PM
From the card manufacturer's site or nvidea site.

I'm seeing stuff about Batman and Battlefield and such.
Not a gamer, not even a computer guy.
So two questions.
1) How do I find out if I need this Beta driver for nVidia 560 GTX 2Gb Video Card.
2) How do I get it and install it on my editing machine.

Dan, the New Beta Driver for Nvidia thread may be of some help.
