mpeg-2 svcd VF plugin quality?

Is the plugin and output SVCD pretty good quality? I hate to buy another package vs just sending the $30 for the VF plugin and being done. Anyone object to the VF plugin? The VCD's seem less than VHS quality, motion can be pixalated for sure. I seen some SVCD's that look great. I know all software is not the same, and wanted peoples hands on take on the VF mpeg2 quality the_ripper

I produce SVCDs regularly, and I have no complaints with the Main Concepts MPEG-2 plug-in. I should mention, however, that I have not yet had the opportunity to do proper tests on some of the other encoders available.

I would strongly suggest turning the "Fast Video Resizing" off. It seems to noticably improve the image quality on both VCDs and SVCDs. The only downside is that rendering takes significantly longer.

Thanks kcarroll. To avoid the hassle think I will pay the $30 and be done....Gee, much friendlier tone in this neighborhood huh ;0 We take off our cynical hats on the sf boards, the_ripper

You're quite right about the tone. Still........, I suppose that's only natural in such a quiet neighborhood. The past 30 days only produced 114 "new subject" posts here, and a big percentage of them are requests for info on how to do things better. (As opposed to: "Is it possible to make this to work??")

Back at the old farm, they posted something like 420 for the same time period. Enough said.

I agree, it is more like "how do I ..." type questions here. Your rarely ever hear "it is bugged, flawed, broken, etc." the_ripper

ps guess I will break down and buy this mpeg2 plugin...
