Mpeg 2 ..Unable to play?

baker wrote on 12/28/2001, 6:06 AM
Ok this may sound dumb, but I just formatted my drive and tried to play an mpeg 2 rendered video with windows media 7.1 and it said " An invalid media type was specified" BTW before I formatted I was able to play this file.

Is there a certain codec I need? And where can I possibly get the Mpeg 2 codec so I can play the video through windows media player?

Thank you all for your help!

I'm sure someone will be able to be more specific, but while we're waiting...

Yes, you do need a codeec that does not come with Windows to play MPEG-2 in WMP. It is usually installed with applications that deal with MPEG-2, like software DVD players and video editing stuff.

You can download free MPEG-2 decoders from VCDhelp.com
