MPEG-2 WIDESCREEN ENCODING???

So, I want to compress my widescreen avi videos into widescreen MPEG-2 format, but it is not possible. All I get is a 3:4 video with black bars, and it is really small. How do I get a full-size MPEG-2 widescreen video out of my Vegas Movie Studio.

If I select NTSC DVD widescreen video stream under MPEG-2 templates, I get a real nice, full size widescreen video file, but without sound! How can I get this same quality of MPEG-2 video WITH sound?

Thanks a lot!!!

Here's one thing I just tried....

Use DVD Architect Studio. Drag the avi file to the top level (Untitled), delete Menu 1, Make DVD, rename resultant .vob file(s) to .mpg. This will give you a 16:9 mpeg file with audio.

Not the most elegant way but it works.

Just use the default one, not widescreen, and you'll have sound with your mpg2 file. Then in DVDA drag it to the Menu screen and you'll be ready to burn.

Hey, thanks, I just tried this, and when you rename the .vob file to .mpg, it really becomes an .mpg! However, I still have the same problem. This is still not a full size widescreen video (such as my original avi file), but is rather a 3:4 video with black bars above and below, and my video file cannot be shown full size due to these bars.

I've had this problem for a while, and tried everything, but I cannot figure it out.

Have you tried the MPEG-2, NTSC DVD widescreen video stream option in vegas movie studio? This is the output that I want to get, but with sound. If you have any other ideas on how to do this, please let me know.

Thanks!

Hey, never mind, I just figured it out!!!

So, in DVD architect, go under File, then optimize DVD, then select Project Vide Format NTSC widescreen, and that's it!

Once again, thanks a lot,I really appreciate it! Now I can save some space on my hard disk!

I'm glad you figured it out, I forgot to include that point about setting the DVDAS project to widescreen.
