mpeg - adjustment

When rendering to mpeg on my machine I cannot go to custom to change the bit rate.

With every thing else you can.

Is there a download or purchase that allows more flexability here.
I'm happy with the rendering in general but would like to chose bit rate changes from time to time.

Seem to remember in Premiere the Mainconcept driver had variables.

PS. Clip stream

are getting closer everyday, but have not yet got a Vegas plugin.

Pretty much any MPEG encoding software has 2 settings, either a CBR (constant bitrate) or VBR (variable bitrate) I have yet to see one that you can slect a certain part of the video and drop or raist the bitrate for that certain part. But that is the concept of the Variable bitrate, but the computer decides when to drop or raise the bitrate.

If the custom tab does not work then you have a faulty installation. There's been a few posts about this. First I would try an uninstall/reinstall. If it still doesn't work, there a registry entry that may need to be deleted mentioned in an older post.
