MPEG can we in the future?

I have not been able to find a way in Vegas to encode a true DVD compliant MPEG-2 file. What I mean is that the NTSC specs that I find for a disc require that if there is only one audio track that it must be LPCM or Dolby. PAL permits MPEG audio. I have not found a way to creat a program stream from Vegas that has PCM audio, only MPEG audio.

Have I missed something? Is there a way? If not can we add that to the list of enhancements for the future?

If I uses DVDit to author my DVD's it transcodes the audio only for me, but if I use other authoring apps, I either have to accept their complete inferior encode or I have to use the MPEG audio that Vegas outputs.

You need to do two renders (at least for now). Render your project first as a .wav file. Choose the 48K option. This will give you a .wav audio file. Next render your project using the MC MPEG2 format. Choose the NTSC DVD (not sure of the exact title) option. This will create an MPEG2 elementry video stream with a .m2v extension. Then use these two files in you DVD authoring program.

Sonic Foundry has said that in the future there will be a way to generate both of these files at the same time. Right now it works for PAL, but not NTSC.

Many people use VV to generate DVD compliant files. I have done it myself, so I know it works. If you need more help, just post another question.
