Hi Everyone, I have just installed vegas 4 on a new machine and at first it allowed me to alter the mpeg 2 settings when you click the custom button. But after one restart it wont allow me to create custom settings and can only use the template ones. Now On my old machine, I never had a single problem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 5 times, but it keeps dong the same thing. None of the other file formats seem to be affected, for example avi and quick time I can hit the custom button and the new window appears. Im a little stumped on this one, can anyone help?? please?? im desperate.. lol

Thanks

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Look in your registry, and make sure it only has these entries, and nothing else.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARESonyMC MPEG Plug-In1.0License]
"CurrentKey"="XX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX"
"InstFlags"=dword:00000010

(you shoud see letters and digits instead of the Xs here...)

It may be that your registration didn't take. Do you know how to play in your registry? I think there is a registry modification instruction in the support pages here.
