MPEG registration problem

When I try burn a VCD from within Vegas to a CD and select the VCD option, it tries to connect to the internet to register the mpeg program. Then it says "product not correct" or something like that and won't let me make a VCD. It's trying to use my VV3 serial number to register this mpeg thing and it doesn't work. What's up with that? Anybody else have this problem? I can render a project as an mpeg, but it won't let me burn a VCD without going through this registration thing that won't let me do it.

What version & build of Vegas? If it's 3.0 (not 3.0a) it might be trying to register the L*gos MPEG encoder, which is no longer possible. Download the 3.0a update (URL below) to get the Main Concept MPEG encoder.

I downloaded the update a while back and it screwed up my capture program. VV3 was working great, could capture DV and analog fine, even though I'm on a lowly PII-400mhz machine running ME, but when I installed the update it dropped like half the frames - totally unusable. I uninstalled and reinstalled the initial version and it works great again so I'm not doing the update. That's a whole different question on why that happened. (JVC DV camcorder, Dazzle firewire card, Hollywood DV bridge)

Hasn't anyone else here tried to burn a VCD from within Vegas and got this registration stuff? That's a whole part of this program that doesn't work. I can burn VCD's with Roxio EZ CD Creator 5, what do I need to do to be able to do it in VV3 ???
