Did you have any other things running on the machine while doing the rendering ?
What if you play teh file in e.g. RealPlayer? Do you get the same results ?

No nothing else running during rendering.

I think it may have something to do with the mediaplayer? After burning to DVD-R it plays fine.

sounds like there was hard drive congestion while the player was reading/buffering the fmedia file.

Antivirus and other background apps will cause this at times, especially if OS services are performing functions at that time..... this is one of the perks to running video to a dedicated drive - it does not compete for attention with the OS.
